Jane O’Hagan Townsend, LICSW, PMH-C
I’m so glad you’re here! Are you a pregnant or new parent struggling with the new expectations, guilt, loss of a sense of self or feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you feel exhausted, frustrated, or lost by managing all the expectations and shifts in your new role? Are you carrying trauma from a difficult pregnancy/birth experience or past experiences? Are you looking for a therapist who understands the complexities of motherhood, relationships and mental health? If so, you are in the right place!
I am a mom of two littles who knows first hand the joys of motherhood and the incredible challenges that come with the transition to parenthood. Trying to conceive, pregnancy & postpartum can feel like such a lonely place and like you’re navigating all these transitions in a silo, but you shouldn’t have to manage this alone. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to process and help clients heal and normalize the less glamorous side of parenthood and the importance of reaching out for help and support during this season of life. My therapeutic approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and trauma-informed care to support emotional well-being during this critical time in your life.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or the overwhelming emotions of becoming a parent, I’m here to help you find balance and clarity.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in DC, Maryland & Virginia and a certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician (PMH-C). I earned my Master of Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2018.
